About the Department
Business administration majors and minors are designed to combine a strong liberal arts education with courses and activities related to the nature and operations of profit and nonprofit organizations. Each of our courses emphasize a strategic management approach to decision making and problem solving. Students do not just memorize jargon and facts, they develop strong analytical and group project skills by working with case studies of "real world" problems. We strongly encourage professional internship experiences; this gives our students an advanced look at the career area they are interested in, and a feel for the business environment in general. We also encourage lifelong professional development and learning. In this way, we feel the students will be better equipped to adapt to rapidly changing business environments. The bottom line: our students will be prepared to make a contribution in the business community or graduate classroom. Business students are urged to select a variety of non-business courses to develop a breadth of knowledge which will lead to flexibility in career decision making.
