About the Department
Many of the courses under this heading are designed to serve both science majors and non-majors, and satisfy the science experience and service learning general education requirements. The classes are enhanced by the college's extensive collection of rocks and minerals and biological specimens as well as the planetarium, astronomical observatory and biological preserve.

The sciences have become increasingly important in elementary education in public schools across the country. The Science Elementary Teaching Major and Minor can provide excellent background to those seeking certification as elementary school teachers. The programs offer hands-on experiences, both in the laboratory and in the field.
