Norma Curtis, Professor of Education and Chair of Education Department, has worked at Olivet College since 1988. She teaches Foundations of American Education and the Methods of Teaching Reading in the Secondary School. She has also taught reading methods courses at the elementary level as well as a general elementary methods course. At Olivet, Curtis has worked as vice president and dean for academic affairs and registrar. She was instrumental in the design of the Master of Arts in Teaching degree program. Curtis is the recipient of the 1844 award, Presidential award, and the Riethmiller award for advising at Olivet College. She has served on the Charlotte Public Schools Board of Education serving as president for several years. Before coming to Olivet, Curtis, taught in elementary schools in Charlotte and in Royal Oak, Michigan. Curtis earned a bachelor’s degree from Alma College, and a master’s from Michigan State University.
