Norma Curtis, vice president and dean for academic affairs and professor of education, has worked at Olivet College since 1988. She teaches a course in the Advanced Learning Term in the fall titled, “So, You Want To Be a Teacher?” and also teaches a course in the Intensive Learning Term in the spring. She has also taught Methods of Teaching Reading in the Secondary School, reading methods courses for the elementary level, and the Elementary Methods course. At Olivet, Curtis has also worked as the registrar and chair of the Education Department and was instrumental in the design of the Master of Arts in Teaching degree program. She has also taught in elementary schools in Charlotte and Royal Oak. Curtis is the recipient of the 1844 award at Olivet College and has served on and as president of the Charlotte School Board. Curtis earned a bachelor’s from Alma College, and a master’s from Michigan State University.
