Martha Perkins, Ph.D., associate professor of humanities, has worked at Olivet College since 2000. Perkins teaches courses in creative writing and literature, and serves as advisor for the Garfield Lake Review, the college's literary arts magazine. Perkins recently took on the role of report writer for the college's 2007 North Central Association of Colleges and Schools accreditation process. In 2005, she received Olivet's Drs. Gorton and Peggy Riethmiller Outstanding Faculty Member Award for excellence in scholarship. Her fiction has appeared in magazines and anthologies in England, and in 2001, Perkins received an ArtServe Michigan grant to fund the writing of a screenplay titled "Verona Road." Perkins has also written a novel titled "The Camp" and produced a short documentary film, "Freshman 15." Perkins earned a bachelor's degree in English and philosophy from Trinity University in San Antonio, a master's degree in creative writing from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England, and a doctorate in literature and creative writing from the University of Houston. |
