Daniel Sobczynski is the retired Director of Corporate Insurance for Ford Motor Company.  He was in Ford’s corporate insurance activities for twenty-five years including two years in Bermuda as the President and Managing Director of Transcon Insurance Ltd.  Corporate Insurance is part of Ford’s Global Risk Management Department in Treasury operations which is responsible for risk identification, analysis, retention, transfer, control, and Ford’s captive insurance company. Prior to working at Ford, he was a National Account Manager for CNA Insurance in Chicago, Illinois and previously held various underwriting positions with Allstate Insurance in Northbrook, Illinois. 

He holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Illinois and a Master of Science in insurance management from Boston University.  He has earned the professional designations of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Claims (AIC), Associate in Insurance Services (AIS), Associate in Personal Insurance (API), Associate in Surplus Line Insurance (ASLI), and Licensed Insurance Counselor (LIS). 

For the past eighteen years, he has been an adjunct instructor in risk management and insurance at Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, MI.  He is also an on-line facilitator for Boston University’s Master of Science in management program.  In 2005, 2006 and 2009, he was recognized as an outstanding instructor by the Insurance Institute of America and American Institute for Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters.  In 2005, Daniel became the first risk manager inducted into The Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame.
