Softball
OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College softball pitchers Rachel Cook, of Traverse City, and Breanne Harmon, of Quincy, are sharing Comet of the Week honors for April 25.
Cook and Harmon each threw a complete game victory in leading the Comets to wins against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opponents.
Harmon's gem was in a 1-0 victory at Calvin College April 21. She scattered three hits, struck out seven and walked one. The walk issued by Harmon did not happen until there were two outs in the seventh.
Cook allowed just an unearned run on three hits in Olivet's 3-1 win over Trine (Ind.) University April 23. She recorded two strikeouts and walked two batters. Cook retired the last 11 batters she faced.
The Comets conclude their season at the end of this week with two MIAA doubles. On Friday, Olivet travels to play Saint Mary's (Ind.) College at 3:30 p.m., and on Saturday, it hosts Kalamazoo College for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
Olivet's sports information office will select a Comet of the Week throughout the remainder of the 2010-11 academic year. The athlete will be featured on the home page of the athletics Web site at www.olivetcollege.edu/athletics.
