OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College junior women's tennis player Giana Guerra, of Lansing, has earned Comet of the Week honors for April 11.
Guerra won both of her singles matches last week to stay perfect in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with a 4-0 record. With those wins, she has also won nine straight matches. Guerra started the week with a 7-6 (2), 6-4 win over Jessica Kosinski from Saint Mary's (Ind.) and then defeated Kari Larson from Kalamazoo in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
For the season, Guerra has a 10-2 record at the No. 2 singles position. She has also had three different partners to post a 7-4 mark at No. 2 doubles.
Olivet will host Calvin College Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. inside the MSU Tennis Facility in East Lansing.
Olivet's sports information office will select a Comet of the Week throughout the remainder of the 2010-11 academic year. The athlete will be featured on the home page of the athletics Web site at www.olivetcollege.edu/athletics.
