OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College freshman swimmer Greg Kohler of Okemos is the Comet of the Week honors for Jan. 31.
In a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) dual meet Jan. 29 at Kalamazoo College, Kohler won the 1,000 freestyle and was second in the 500 freestyle. His time of 10:13.32 in the 1,000 was a season-best and was more than eight seconds faster than the runner-up finish, while he stopped the clock at 4:56.14 in the 500. The 1,000 time is unofficially the third fastest among MIAA swimmers this season.
Kohler and the Comets host Calvin College in their final MIAA dual meet Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. After that, Olivet will compete at the 2011 MIAA Championships Feb. 17-19 at Jenison High School.
Olivet's sports information office will select a Comet of the Week throughout the remainder of the 2010-11 academic year. The athlete will be featured on the home page of the athletics Web site at www.olivetcollege.edu/athletics.
