OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College senior men's basketball player Michael McClary of Bellaire is the Comet of the Week for Jan. 10.
McClary posted back-to-back double-doubles, helping the Comets split their first two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contests last week.
In a 77-69 loss against Albion College Jan. 5, McClary posted game-highs in points (29) and rebounds (12). He followed that performance with 11 points and 13 rebounds in a 53-51 win over Adrian College Jan. 8. For the week, McClary made 13-of-34 baskets and 14-of-21 free throws for his 40 points. He also blocked seven shots, while committing just two fouls in 37 minutes of action.
For the season, McClary is averaging a team-best 24.8 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per game. He is shooting 52 percent (129-of-248) from the floor and 73.9 percent (65-of-88) from the charity stripe, while blocking 23 shots.
With his 40 points last week, McClary sits fifth all-time at Olivet with 1,470 points. He is also the only player in school history with more than 1,400 points, 900 rebounds and 150 blocks.
Olivet will play two key MIAA games this week. On Wednesday, the Comets travel to play Calvin College at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, they host Hope College at 3 p.m.
