OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College senior men's basketball player Michael McClary of Bellaire has been named the Comet of the Week for Dec. 20.
McClary scored 51 points and grabbed 16 rebounds over two games at the Cruzin' Classic Dec. 17-18 in West Palm Beach, Fla. In an 82-81 loss against St. Mary's (Md.) College, he scored 37 points and grabbed eight rebounds. The next night in an 81-65 loss to Northwood (Fla.) University, McClary had 14 points and eight rebounds.
For the two games, McClary made 22-of-40 field goals (55.0 percent) and 7-of-12 free throws (58.3 percent). He also had seven steals and committed just one foul and one turnover in 71 minutes of action.
McClary and the Comets are now idle until Wednesday, Jan. 5, when they open MIAA play at home against Albion College at 7:30 p.m.
Olivet's sports information office will select a Comet of the Week throughout the remainder of the 2010-11 academic year. The athlete will be featured on the home page of the athletics Web site at www.olivetcollege.edu/athletics.
