In 2009, Brian Jacob begins his first season as a coach of the women’s lacrosse program at Olivet College. He will work with the offense.

Jacob received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1985 and a master’s degree in Operations Research from Western Michigan University in 2003.  He has been employed at Kellogg Company since 1985 in various supply chain management positions.

In 2004, Jacob helped create the Battle Creek boys’ lacrosse program which has experienced dramatic growth and has produced two area high school boys’ teams.  In 2006 he started the Battle Creek girls’ lacrosse program and continues as the high school program’s head coach and serves as a director on the leadership board. Jacob and assistant coach David Tanis are looking forward to the challenge of building the Olivet women’s lacrosse program into a strong division III competitor.

David Tanis, along with Brian Jacob, will begin engineering a quality lacrosse program in Olivet that will start competition in the 2009 spring season. Tanis will work with the defense and goalkeepers.

With degrees in Exercise Physiology and Community Health from Western Michigan University, Tanis currently works at the Kellogg Company. At Kellogg, he belongs to a Health and Wellness team that strives to improve the health of each employee in North America through education and health initiatives.

In 2005, Tanis joined a growing Battle Creek lacrosse program, helping with its youth outreach.  Soon after joining, a ladies high school lacrosse program for greater Battle Creek was created and represented five school systems.  In addition to the high school team, Tanis serves on two leadership committees that support greater Battle Creek lacrosse.
