James Farnum

James Farnum begins his seventh season as Olivet's head softball coach in 2010. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Farnum is an assistant professor in the college's Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sport Department.

Under Farnum's leadership, the Comets have compiled a 123-85 overall record, including a school-record 24 wins in 2006. In addition, he became Olivet’s winningest softball coach in 2007. The Comets finished the 2009 season with 23 wins.

Prior to being promoted to head coach, Farnum was an assistant coach for the Comets for two seasons. He also has coaching experience as an assistant softball and football coach at Alma College. Farnum is a 1993 graduate of Alma, where he was a four-year letterwinner on the football team.

Farnum resides in Lansing with wife, Tammy. They have two daughters, Adalin (6) and Kate (3), and one son, Jackson (born May 2008)
    

  Gordie Hetrick
Assistant Coach

Gordie Hetrick begins his sixth season as an assistant softball coach.

Hetrick is serving as the pitching and hitting coach. Prior to joining the Olivet staff, Hetrick was an assistant softball coach at Lansing Community College (LCC). He was a member of the coaching staff when LCC won the 2002 National Junior College Athletic Association Championship.

Hetrick is a 1968 graduate of Alma College. He lives in Perry and has two daughters, Lindsay and Lacey.
