Olivet College to host High School Honor Band

Olivet College will host 40 instrumental music students from across southern Michigan for the Olivet College High School Honor Band Saturday, April 5, on campus (320 S. Main St., Olivet, MI 49076).

Students from 17 different high schools will come together into one ensemble and spend the day working on new literature in full rehearsal, as well as in a sectional with Olivet College music faculty and other professional musicians from across the state.

The students’ hard work will pay off and be displayed to the public in a free concert Saturday evening, at 7:30 p.m. at the Olivet Congregational Church. The Olivet College Wind Ensemble will open the concert for these very talented high school students.

Participating high schools include: Bellevue, Charlotte, Clawson, East Detroit, Harper Creek, Jackson, L’Anse Creuse – North, Lakewood, Mason, Milford, Monroe, Olivet, Onstead, Roseville, Summit Academy, Warren Cousino and Williamston.

For more information, contact Jeremy Duby, Olivet College’s director of bands, at (269) 749-7158 or jduby@olivetcollege.edu
