Career Experience Takes the Classroom

Under the leadership of Renee Smith, assistant professor of business, the Olivet College Accounting Student Organization (ASO) participated in the virtual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program earlier this year. VITA is offered to any individual or household with a 2013 annual income of $53,000 or less.

After hosting a successful VITA program with Olivet College in 2013, the Asset Independence Coalition (AIC) decided to extend the partnership.

About the Business Administration Program

Olivet College’s Business Administration Department faculty will teach you to think both creatively and analytically – combining courses and activities related to the nature and operation of both for–profit and nonprofit organizations. Beyond the classroom, our faculty are committed to your success – working one-on-one to ensure you meet your personal career goals.

Our business administration faculty are experienced executives, entrepreneurs and business leaders from some of the nation’s top companies. From day one, they will help you explore your many career options. Our professors are passionate about their work. They will strive not only to challenge you in your academic pursuits, but to help you develop the skills it takes to be successful business leaders.

Each of our courses emphasizes a strategic management approach to decision making and problem solving. You won’t simply memorize jargon and facts; you’ll develop strong analytical and group project skills by working with case studies representing situations you may face on the job. This process ultimately prepares you to adapt to the rapidly changing business environment. In addition, you’ll work to demonstrate knowledge and applications of ethical business standards and commitment to diversity in the workplace throughout your time at Olivet College.

The bottom line: Your Olivet College experience will prepare you to be a contributing member of the business community immediately upon graduation.

"The love is real. Olivet faculty will help you graduate as long as you are willing to help yourself first. Olivet is small, which means small classes and more opportunities to meet one-on-one with faculty. You aren’t just a number."
