Olivet College is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Professor of Education

This is a full-time tenure track faculty position with potential for contract renewal and promotion. 

Required Qualifications:  Minimum of a master’s degree in special education with a learning disabilities teaching endorsement.  Previous experience in teaching general education and special education at the K-12 level in either a public or private school setting to include the direct instruction of students certified as learning disabled. The ability to use or a stated willingness to learn to use the available technology   
of the college as part of teaching and departmental duties.

Preferred Qualifications: A terminal degree (Ph.D. / Ed. D.) in special education with an emphasis on teaching the learning disabled student. Secondary (grades 6-12) experience in teaching students with learning disabilities.
A secondary (grades 6-12) regular education teaching certificate/endorsement in addition to the above stated special education credentials.

Responsibilities: Teach a variety of undergraduate education courses, special education courses and participate in the liberal arts core curriculum.  Provide direction for all aspects of the placement, supervision and evaluation of secondary student teachers. Full-time faculty members teach 24 credit hours over two semesters.  Provide leadership in the Education Department in terms of preparing students for teaching careers.  Participate in student advising, departmental and college committees, recruiting, orientation, and other aspects of residential college life.
