Olivet, Mich. – The Olivet College Theatre Program will present Into The Woods, a fairy tale musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, Oct. 24 to 26 at the Oaks Theatre in downtown Olivet. The performances, which begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening, are free and open to the public.
Into the Woods is a comical twist on the classic stories of childhood, including Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and other fairytales. A Broadway smash, it features a smart, funny and moving script with haunting music.
“This is a fanciful story with hard-life lessons,” said Arthur Williams, assistant director of theatre and director of Olivet’s theatre program. “The cast is learning that not all stories end happily ever after.”
Cast members include Williams as the Narrator, Heather Hipkiss as Cinderella, Brad Bradbury as Jack, Angela Boardman as Jack’s mom, Evan Lyn as the Baker and Katie O’Brien as the Baker’s Wife. Other cast members include Becky Gehrman, Katie Graebner, Jessica Vann, Julie Draper, Marie Gouba, John Lang and Jessica Wilson. Musical director is David Sly ‘80, who serves as a counselor at Olivet Middle School.
