Olivet College students to perform in 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Honor Band

Four Olivet College instrumental music students will perform in the Michigan Intercollegiate Honor Band at the Dimnent Memorial Chapel on the Hope College campus Saturday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public. The band is a joint collaboration of Adrian College, Albion College, Alma College, Calvin College, Cornerstone University, Grand Valley State University, Hillsdale College, Hope College, Olivet College and Spring Arbor University. Students in the band are nominated by their conductor and come together for one day of rehearsals, capped by the concert in the evening. Lisa Furman, assistant professor of music, nominated the Olivet students, who include: Nicolas Adsit, a senior from Muskegon, French horn; Zachary Coddaire, a senior from Lake Odessa, trumpet; Helen MacQueen, a junior from Hastings, oboe; and Cody Schweikert, a freshman from Union City, clarinet. The band will perform Roger Cichy’s “Divertimento,” Eric Whitacre’s “October,” Carter Pann’s “Richard & Renee” and John Phillip Sousa’s “Easter Monday on the White House Lawn.” The guest conductor this year is Carolyn A. Barber from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. « Back
