Olivet College to celebrate Homecoming Sept. 28-29
Sep 04, 2012

Olivet College students, alumni, employees and friends will recognize and relive the memories of Greek life on campus during “My Big Fat Greek Homecoming” Friday through Saturday, Sept. 28-29. The college’s 11 active Greek societies have been in existence for a combined 850 years, with many of them celebrating milestone anniversary years in 2012.

Friday’s festivities kick off with an exhibit featuring potter Jim Gottuso in the Riethmiller Blackman Art Building’s Kresge Art Gallery; the annual Kappa Sig Golf Outing at Alwyn Downs; Homecoming Golf Outing at The Medalist; Homecoming Parade with Olivet High School; and All-Alumni Social.

Saturday’s events include the Greeks vs. Greeks Fundraiser Breakfast; the annual Music Collage Concert; Athletic Alumni Games; Greek Celebration Booths; Greek Society Open Houses; Adelphic House Tour; Men’s Soccer Game vs. Adrian; Silent Auction; an All-Alumni Celebration at the Lamplighter O.C.; and much more.

Distinguished Alumni Award recipients Noel Dean, Lowell High School head football coach; Linda Eaton, Sate University of New York at New Paltz dean of students; and Del Walden, retired Cranbrook dean, teacher, athletic director, coach and advisor, will be recognized during the “Red and White Luncheon” at the Cutler Event Center’s Hathaway Court. Alumnus Dave Cutler, Microsoft senior technical fellow, will be recognized as the Homecoming Grand Marshal at the luncheon, as well. Also on Saturday, the Comet football team will take on Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Alma College at 2 p.m. at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

A number of alumni receptions, athletic events, and additional activities are planned throughout the weekend.
