Men's soccer team moves up to No. 1 regionally and No. 8 nationally
Sep 25, 2012

The 8-0-1 Olivet College men’s soccer team is the top ranked team in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Central Region Poll. In addition, the Comets have climbed all the way up to No. 8 in the NSCAA Division III national rankings.

Olivet is coming off a 2-0 record last week, including a 2-0 win at Hope College, who slipped into a tie for No. 7 in the regional poll. “Being ranked No. 1 in the region and No. 8 nationally is awesome,” said Olivet Head Coach Chad Wiseman. “But we also know as quick as we ascended to those positions, we can fall just as fast. We need to take one game at a time, and not lose our focus.”

The Comets will play twice at home this week, beginning Wednesday when Kalamazoo College, ranked No. 10 in the regional poll, visits the Cutler Athletic Complex for a 4 p.m. game. On Saturday, Olivet will host Adrian College at 1 p.m.

“We are looking forward to having two home games this week,” said Wiseman. “It’s going to be nice having a home game on Saturday for Homecoming, and we hope the soccer alumni can come out and watch the game.”
