Olivet College’s Bonivel named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for football
Oct 22, 2012
Olivet College freshman Ryheem Bonivel (Caledonia/East Kentwood) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week for football. He is being honored as the Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Bonivel recorded seven total tackles, including four for loss yardage, in Olivet’s 28-8 loss to Adrian College Oct. 20 at the Cutler Athletic Complex. Two of the tackles for loss were quarterback sacks for negative 15 yards and on one of the sacks, he stripped the ball from the Adrian quarterback. “Ryheem is a rare talent,” said Olivet Defensive Coordinator David Gater. “He continues to improve. We had a feeling he would win this award at some point. The entire coaching staff and his teammates could not be happier for him.” The Comets will host Albion College Saturday at 1 p.m. « Back
