Olivet, Mich. – The Olivet College Choir and Chamber Ensemble will present their first concert of the 2002-03 academic year on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 3 p.m., in Olivets Upton Conservatory Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
These two choral groups, under the direction of Dr. Timothy Flynn, assistant professor of music, and accompanied by Dr. Ramona Kime-Graessle, adjunct associate professor of music, will perform a wide variety of choral music from Baroque to Broadway.
The concert will begin with the Chamber Ensemble in music of Purcell, Handel and madrigals of Morely and Lasso. The Choir will perform works by William Byrd and Handel in addition to traditional spirituals. The concert will conclude with choral and solo excerpts from Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webbers Phantom of the Opera. The concert will feature solos and duets by students Julia Draper, Jamie Lintner, Angela Boardman, Katie OBrien, Maire Gouba and Ruth Munk.
