Olivet College to hold auditions for V-Day benefit
Jan 03, 2013

Olivet College is hosting its sixth V-Day benefit for the SIREN/Eaton Shelter in Charlotte with two performances of Eve Ensler’’s “The Vagina Monologues.” The production, which is sponsored by the Betsy Dole Women’’s Resource Center (BDWRC), will be held Thursday, Feb. 28 and Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Margaret Upton Conservatory of Music Recital Hall.

Auditions are open to the public and will be held Wednesday, Jan. 23 and Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. in the Upton Conservatory, located at the corner of Main and Cottage streets in Olivet. The show calls for an all-female cast ages 17 and up. Performers have the option of memorizing or reading their lines for the production. During the audition, reading material will be available for those who choose not to bring their own.

V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls by raising funds and awareness through benefit productions of Ensler’’s award-winning play. This is Olivet’’s sixth time hosting the production, which is held every other year in February.

Please note, the show contains adult language and situations. For more information, contact Dianne Thomas, director of the BDWRC, at (269) 749-6638 or dthomas@olivetcollege.edu.
