Olivet, Mich. Jerry Rashid has been named assistant vice president for college relations at Olivet College, according to an announcement by Alan Nagy, vice president for institutional advancement at Olivet. Rashid will be responsible for all public relations, media relations, publications, Web site and sports information efforts at the college.
Rashid comes to Olivet from Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina where he served as marketing communications specialist for the past three years. While at Coastal, his duties included writing news releases, handling media relations and serving as editor of the faculty/staff newsletter and assistant editor of the alumni magazine.
Rashids professional background includes working for more than 12 years in higher education public relations at Stetson University in Florida, Wayne State College in Nebraska and the University of North Dakota. From 1990 to 1993, he worked at Olivet as assistant director of public relations and sports information director. His publication work has been recognized by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A native of Lansing, Rashid earned a bachelors degree in communications from Michigan State University in 1988.
