Olivet College to present "The Vagina Monologues"
Feb 19, 2013

Olivet College is hosting its biennial V-Day event with two performances of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues.” The production, which is sponsored by the Betsy Dole Women’s Resource Center (BDWRC), will be held Thursday, Feb. 28 and Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Margaret Upton Conservatory of Music Recital Hall.

Tickets are $8, or free for Olivet College students who donate a non-perishable food item. Proceeds benefit SIREN/Eaton Shelter in Charlotte and Sexual Assault Services of Calhoun County.

Director for the production is Joanne Williams, associate professor of journalism and mass communication. The cast includes: Kaitlyn Blanchard, a junior from Olivet; Kazette Chan, a senior from Hong Kong; Sierra Clark, a senior from Traverse City; Brittnee Johnson, a freshman from Ann Arbor; Rebecca Jones, a senior from Lansing; and Raquel Mazur, a junior from Griffith, Ind. Other cast members include: Lin Collins from Charlotte; Kim Forde from Marshall; Marcia Frost from Olivet; Samantha Gibbs from Olivet; Madge Harris-Rowland from Walker; and Cynthia Noyes, J.D., Social Science Department Chair and associate professor of sociology and anthropology at Olivet.

V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls by raising funds and awareness through benefit productions of Ensler’s award-winning play. This is Olivet’s sixth time hosting the production, which is held every other year in February.

Please note, the show contains adult language and situations. For tickets or information, contact Dianne Thomas, director of the BDWRC, at (269) 749-6638 or dthomas@olivetcollege.edu.
