Petoskey wins full-tuition scholarship to Olivet College
Feb 28, 2013
Nate Petoskey, a senior from Constantine High School, has won a full-tuition scholarship to Olivet College as part of the second annual Global Citizen Honors Program (GCHP) Scholarship Competition, which was held Jan. 25 on campus. Petoskey, who plans to study environmental science and biology, competed among more than 70 incoming Olivet College freshmen during the event. The college also awarded $123,000 in additional scholarship money to competitors. “Nate is a truly amazing young man,” said Maria Davis, Ph.D., provost and dean of the college. “We’re so pleased he has chosen Olivet College!” Students were selected for the competition based on their academic standing. All of the competitors are high achieving, incoming freshmen who met specific grade point average and ACT score requirements. During the event, students participated in an interview session with faculty and staff members, in addition to the essay writing competition. The program also included information about the GCHP and honors classes at Olivet; a question-and-answer session with President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D., and other college officials; and individualized visits with admissions and financial aid representatives. For more information about the event or the GCHP, contact Matt Wait, J.D., GCHP director and associate professor of interdisciplinary studies, at (269) 749-4187 or mwait@olivetcollege.edu. « Back
