Apr 17, 2013

Olivet College will recognize the best of its student body, as well as faculty and staff, during the annual Honors Convocation Wednesday, April 17 at 6:30 p.m. in Mott Auditorium.

Prior to this event, the Student Life Awards will be held at 4 p.m. in the Kirk Center. Both events are free and open to the public.

President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D., and Maria Davis, Ph.D., provost and dean of the college, will each deliver remarks during the honors ceremony. Erin Jarvie, a senior from Rudyard, will present the invocation, while Chelsea Cloke, a senior from Bonita Springs, Fla., will deliver the benediction.

Each academic department will present awards to its top students; Alumni Council Scholarships and Community Responsibility Awards will be presented as well.

In addition, the college will honor its top five graduating seniors and the faculty members of their choice with the prestigious Donald A. Morris Award.

Susanne Lewis, Ph.D., associate professor of chemistry, and Heather Bateman, director of athletics, are the senior class marshals. Members of Sigma Zeta, the national honor society for math, computer science and natural science majors, will serve as ushers and flag bearers.
