Olivet College and Accident Fund collaborate to establish Certified Authority on Workers' Compensation program
May 17, 2013

LANSING, MI – Olivet College recently partnered with Accident Fund Insurance Company of America to create the Certified Authority on Workers’ Compensation (CAWC) program. This program offers a unique perspective on workers’ compensation, combining business acumen with key educational training, for an innovative and unique learning experience.

“I have been able to put a lot of the information I learned in the CAWC program to great use in the office and for underwriting purposes,” Kaylene Carson, Commercial Lines Underwriting Consultant for Fremont Insurance, said. “It was truly a great experience and wonderful way to obtain better knowledge and understanding.”

This designation was specifically created for agents and producers to broaden their knowledge of workers’ compensation, while building the skills needed to better sell the many benefits of this particular line of insurance. The 20-hour program consists of live classes on topics such as:

Workers’ Compensation Fundamentals

Ethics

Experience Modification Factors

Alternative Work Comp Programs

Loss Control

Claims and Return-to-Work

Fraud

Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act

Classification and Rating of Workers’ Compensation

“Obtaining the CAWC designation allows agents and producers to quickly become experts in the workers’ compensation industry, giving them a competitive edge in the marketplace,” Al Gileczek, vice president of Regional Operations for Accident Fund, said. “I encourage you to take advantage of this very affordable opportunity to earn your CAWC designation from Accident Fund and Olivet College.

The next CAWC session will be offered at Accident Fund National Headquarters, 200 N. Grand Ave., in Lansing, Mich., Sept. 17 19, 2013.
