Jul 17, 2002

Olivet, Mich. – Olivet Colleges head athletic trainer, Janet Tsang, has been appointed placement representative for the Michigan Athletic Trainers Society (MATS), an organization comprised of certified athletic trainers, non-certified student athletic trainers, and other health care professionals who strive to improve the quality of heath care for the physically active individual through continued education and research. In this role, Tsang will represent the state of Michigan on the Great Lakes Athletic Training Association (GLATA) placement committee. GLATA is the District Four level of the National Athletic Trainers Association.

I am very excited about contributing to the continued advancement of the athletic training profession, said Tsang upon news of her appointment. Tsangs responsibilities will include submitting job placement information to the MATS Web site, working with the job placement center at GLATA district and NATA national meetings; and generating ideas to aid Michigan athletic training students and certified athletic trainers in the job application process.

Tsang will utilize the NATA placement committees Employment Issues Handbook as a template as she generates state-specific information on career mobility, how to find available athletic training positions, networking and interviewing skills, and resume design. All new information will be made available on-line at www.matsonline.org.

While she collects information related to athletic training employment, Tsang will be targeting her guide to athletic training students and certified athletic trainers seeking an opportunity to refine their job-seeking skills and increase their professional marketability.

Tsangs involvement as a placement representative for Michigan will also include volunteering at the organizations job placement center. Open for the duration of the NATA Clinical Symposium, the center provides employers and prospective employees with services including interviewing space, Internet access, position listings.
