Move-In Day brings Olivet College employees, students and families together
Aug 27, 2013

More than 40 Olivet College employees and several athletic teams volunteered to assist new students and their parents during the college’s Move-In Day Saturday, Aug. 24.

From assisting residents with finding their dorm rooms, to moving boxes and answering questions, the volunteers dedicated the entire day to making students and their families feel welcome and excited about living on campus.

“Coming together for Move-In Day is just part of what we do here at Olivet College,” said Maria Davis, Ph.D., provost and dean of the college. “We hope to make the transition to campus a little easier for our incoming students and their families—and many parents are impressed that even the college’s president and some of its trustees roll up their sleeves to help!”

After the physical labor of moving was complete, students, their families and the volunteers had the opportunity to shop in the College Square for dorm room supplies. Vendors included Bed, Bath and Beyond; Olivet Hardware; Firehouse Pottery; and Willow Tree Bakery.

The evening concluded with activities and a welcome ceremony in the Square.

Once again this year, the college’s three dormitories and one apartment complex are at full capacity.
