OLIVET, Mich. Philip Reed has been named director of campus security at Olivet College, according to an announcement by Julie Foster, Olivets vice president for community life.
Reeds responsibilities include working to ensure the safety and security of Olivets campus community and property. He will also evaluate, schedule, supervise and train security personnel and be responsible for investigating all complaints of criminal and non-criminal actions on Olivets campus.
Reeds previous work experience includes serving 25 years with the Battle Creek Police Department, retiring as commander on July 4, 2003.
His educational background includes earning a bachelors in psychology and sociology from Hope College in 1977 and a masters in public administration from Western Michigan University in 2001. Reed also graduated from the Northwestern University School of Staff and Command and the Kalamazoo Valley Community College Michigan Law Enforcement Training Council Police Academy. He has also participated in numerous seminars and training programs for cultural and racial diversity.
Reed resides in Battle Creek with his wife Teresa.
