Quirk to speak as part of Olivet College Lecture and Symposium Series
Oct 14, 2013

Bestselling novelist, humor columnist and science writer Joe Quirk will speak as part of Olivet College’s Lecture and Symposium Series Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 1:30 p.m. in Mott Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

In high school, Joe Quirk was known for four things: getting detention for being a smart-aleck, getting A’s in biology, his interest in the opposite sex, and having a name like Quirk. He decided to combine these four talents in his second book, the bestseller “It’s Not You, It’s Biology: The Science of Love, Sex, & Relationships.”

Quirk is launching a campaign to get the science of relationships out of the science aisle and into the relationships aisle of the book store. He lectures about the biology of relationships to anyone who can’t give him detention.

Quirk is also a bestselling author of “The Ultimate Rush,” an action thriller about rollerblading. The film rights have been bought by Warner Brothers. He just finished his second novel, “Exult,” about hang gliders who live out the Icarus myth. Aside from writing the non-fiction work “Call to the Rescue: the Story of the Marine Mammal Center,” he has also completed his second science book, “Tools Are From Men, Talk is From Women; Why Your Partner’s Brain is Weird.”

In his other life, Quirk writes eye-catching copy for web designers, advertising firms, public relations companies, and worthy entrepreneurs. He is a humor columnist for H+ magazine, a publication dedicated to improving the human condition through biotechnology, nanotechnology and artificial intelligence.
