Olivet College Humanities Department to screen film Jan. 21
Jan 12, 2014

Olivet College’s Humanities Department will screen the film “Hannah Arendt” Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. in Mott Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Directed by Margarethe von Trotta, the biopic is centered on German-Jewish philosopher and political theorist Hannah Arendt. Arendt’s reporting on the 1961 trial of Nazi Adolf Eichmann in The New Yorker – controversial both for her portrayal of Eichmann and the Jewish councils – introduced her now-famous concept of the “Banality of Evil,” which is the subject of her most controversial book, “Eichmann in Jerusalem.”

This film is not rated. To view the trailer, visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDO5u2YSbm0. For more information about the event, contact Dustin Byrd, assistant professor of humanities, at dbyrd@olivetcollege.edu.
