OLIVET, Mich. Olivet College students will have the opportunity to learn more about the services and products offered in the city of Olivet during A Night on the Town, on Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown Olivet. The event is being sponsored by the college and the newly formed Olivet Community Chamber of Commerce.
More than 25 businesses are expected to participate with coupon giveaways, free samples and prize drawings. The event will feature live music by D.C. 3. Sodexho, the colleges food service provider, will prepare and serve a picnic-style dinner downtown to students and community members. Cost for the dinner is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.
A Night on the Town was developed as a fun way to build on the relationship between the college and community, said Julie Foster, vice president for community life. Olivet is home to our students for four years, so we feel its important they take advantage of area businesses for some of the items they may need.
A Night on the Town is being held in conjunction with the colleges Welcome Week. Olivets residential students begin moving onto campus Saturday, Aug. 16, with the first day of classes for the 2003 fall semester slated to begin Tuesday, Aug. 19.
