Olivet College faculty and staff receive service awards

Olivet College President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D., recently honored 24 employees with service awards.

Laura Barlond-Maas, of Olivet, Humanities Department chair and associate professor of English, was honored for 25 years of service to the college.

Employees honored for 20 years of service include Ute Chase, of Olivet, Physical Plant office coordinator; and Larry Colvin, of Union City, vice president for administration.

Those honored for 15 years of service include Barb Spencer, of Olivet, executive assistant to the president; Joanne Williams, of Olivet, associate professor of journalism and mass communication and Career Services Network director; and Kathi Wireman, of Marshall, housekeeper.

Employees honored for 10 years of service include Sylvia Burkett, of Bellevue, bookstore manager; Michael Fredericks, of Grand Ledge, assistant professor of computer science; Jason Meadows, of Olivet, associate dean of student life; Janine Peters, of Marshall, associate professor of mathematics and computer science; Phil Reed, of Battle Creek, associate professor and director of criminal justice and campus safety director; Bruce Snyder, of Battle Creek, director of publications and web services; Matt Wait, J.D., of Marshall, associate professor of interdisciplinary studies; and Michelle Woodhouse-Jackson, of Lansing, assistant professor of business administration.

Recipients of the 5-year service award include Ross Bohms, of Charlotte, Mathematics and Computer Science Department chair and assistant professor of mathematics; Dustin Byrd, of Kalamazoo, assistant professor of humanities; Karen Chaney, Ph.D., of Battle Creek, associate dean for academic affairs and assistant professor of religious studies and ethics; Patrick Fields, Ph.D., of Dimondale, assistant professor of biology; Korey Heppeard, of Battle Creek, assistant athletic director; Bill Kurtz, of Coldwater, senior vice president and chief financial officer; Samantha Myers, of Charlotte, assistant professor of interdisciplinary studies; Chris Stewart, of Bath, head strength and conditioning coach; Leslie Sullivan, of Battle Creek, registrar; Sarah Vanden Heuvel, of Bellevue, student employment coordinator; and Marco Wiedenhoeft, Ph.D., of Kalamazoo, associate professor of physics and mathematics.
