Jazz ensemble to perform at Olivet College Feb. 26

OLIVET, Mich. The Olivet College jazz ensemble will perform Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Upton Conservatory of Music Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public. The ensemble will perform pieces by Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie and many other major composers of the jazz era. Under the direction of Jonathon Gewirtz, Olivet College adjunct instructor of music, the ensemble includes Roy Backus, assistant professor of religious studies at Olivet, and Jesse Gyger, a junior from Charlotte, on the alto saxophone; Dustin Beck, a junior from White Lake, on piano; Armand Horst, a senior from Detroit, Jason Myers, a freshman from Olivet, and Brad Waddell, a freshman from Holland, on trombone; Dave Keeney, a junior from Lansing, on bass; Chris Onze, a senior from Mason, on guitar; and Jason Wright, a junior from Marshall, on the drums. « Back
