The Olivet College music program to host a concert April 5

OLIVET, Mich.The Olivet College choir and womens chorale will perform a concert featuring American-themed music Monday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Olivet Congregational Church. The event is free and open to the public.

The concert will be conducted by Timothy Flynn, Ph.D., music program director and assistant professor of music, and accompanied by Ramona Kime Graessle, Ph.D., adjunct associate professor of music.

The choir will perform excerpts from Vincent Persichettis Celebration, music by film composer John Williams, some comic pieces by Norman Luboff, and new music titled The Time and Madrigal, composed by Dustin Beck, a junior from White Lake.

The womens chorale will sing music from Leonard Bernsteins Mass, as well as a composition featuring Elizabeth Flannery, a sophomore from Howell, on French horn. The chorale will also premier a song titled Liberty, by Paula Richardson, a junior from East Lansing.

The event will also feature Theme and Variations for flute duet, the song Minever Cheevy, and a Hymn Suite for flute quartet by Anna Ruth Munk, a composition major from Lansing, as part of her senior recital.
