Olivet College to host student painting exhibit

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College visual arts program will exhibit student paintings Sept. 2 – 21 in the campuss Barker-Cawood Art Gallery. The exhibit, open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., is free and open to the public.


The show will feature paintings completed during the intensive learning term (ILT) class held this past spring. The three-and-one-half week ILT course, taught by art professor, Don Rowe, focused on landscape painting. Eighteen students of various majors and education levels learned how to use oil paint on masonite to capture the sites of campus, the Leila Arboretum of Battle Creek and the countryside around Olivet and Charlotte.


Students showing their paintings include; Carrie Abbott of Bad Axe; Ben Chee of Olivet; Amanda Crooks of Elmhurst, Ill.; Jennifer Dryer of Marshall; Hera Haizel of Washington D.C.; Erin Harrison of Bellevue; Gina Hilgendorf of Allenton; Hristo Kozhuharov of Haskovo, Svilengrad; Jake Marlow of Delton; Greg Mason of Portage; Kari Munson of Lansing; Kelly Parker of Olivet; Lynn Pilbeam of Temperance; Jessica Pletz of Lake; Sarah Quakenbush of Dimondale; Katie Siegel of Midland; Ian Tuski of Olivet and Amber Zeller of Union City.
