OLIVET, Mich. Michael Davis, a senior at Olivet College majoring in business administration with a concentration in insurance, has been named the Intermediaries and Reinsurance Underwriters Association (IRU) Intern of the Year. Davis, a native of Eaton Rapids, completed four-week internships in the intermediary and reinsurance underwriters sector of the insurance industry at Signet Star Re in Greenwich, Conn., and John P. Woods Co., Inc., in Jersey City, N.J. After the internships, he wrote a paper about current issues in the insurance industry. The IRU intern program provides an opportunity for college juniors and seniors to learn about the reinsurance industry and gain practical experience in its operation. It also provides the intern a chance to evaluate reinsurance as a potential career. The IRU internship is internationally recognized and sought by thousands of students across North America. Olivet College insurance students have been named the IRU Intern of the Year six out of the past seven years.
