Olivet College food services undergoing $1.1 million renovation
Aug 01, 2005

OLIVET, Mich. The Olivet College Kirk Center cafeteria is being completely renovated this summer as part of a $1.1 million investment by Chartwells, the campus new food service provider. The project includes overhauling the food and beverage service areas, main dining room and kitchen. In addition to remodeling the cafeteria, Chartwells is also installing a grab and go style coffee snack shop in the Burrage Library and Mott Academic Center.

The cafeteria renovation is part of the colleges overall plan to continuously address the needs of our students, said President Don Tuski, Ph.D. The improvements will allow the cafeteria to provide a wider variety of choices to the students while enhancing customer service.

According to Ben Marciniak-Jennings, Chartwells food service director at Olivet, the new cafeteria design creates a more efficient way to serve the 600-plus students on the campus meal-plan. He says the cafeteria will offer nine different themed serving stations during mealtimes.

The new format was designed to create a new and exciting eating experience for our customers Olivets students, faculty and staff, said Marciniak-Jennings.

The cafeteria design, created by MBA Architects, is being completed by Borton Construction. Both companies are based in Wisconsin. The project is scheduled to be finished by Aug. 19. Olivets 2005 fall semester begins Aug. 22.
