Olivet College names new women’s resource center director

OLIVET, Mich. Rev. Julie J. Kilmer, Ph.D., has been named director of the Betsy Dole Womens Resource Center and associate professor of womens studies at Olivet College, according to an announcement by Norma Curtis, vice president and dean for academic affairs. Kilmer, who began her duties Aug. 1, is responsible for teaching courses in womens studies and revising the womens study minor. She will continue traditional center programming activities such as Take Back the Night, Tea at Three and Brown Bag luncheons. Kilmer also plans to introduce a book study and help coordinate a womens conference. Her professional background includes working as a visiting lecturer in educational leadership and womens studies at Miami University in Ohio. Prior to that, Kilmer was associate director of the Niebuhr Center, a faith based academic program at Elmhurst College in Illinois, and a visiting lecturer of religious studies at North Central College in Illinois. Kilmer earned a bachelors degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, a masters in educational administration from Marshall University in West Virginia, a masters of divinity from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio and a doctorate in theology, ethics and human services from the Chicago Theological Seminary. The mission of the Betsy Dole Womens Resource Center is to provide information, education and services related to gender issues to the women and men of the Olivet College community. « Back
