OLIVET, Mich. Olivet College is gearing up for its seventh annual fall Service Day Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Members of the Olivet College community put aside their normal routine to volunteer on campus and in area neighborhoods as part of Service Day activities. Projects range from raking leaves to painting buildings and adopt-a-highway to habitat restoration.

This fall many students are also planning fundraising service projects to assist Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, said Lynn Ward Gray, associate vice president for diversity and community affairs.

Service projects are organized by students, faculty, staff, athletic teams, Greek societies and student organizations. Some activities have connections to specific classes, while others are projects that need to be done for the good of the community.
