Olivet College hosts Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame inductions
Sep 19, 2005

OLIVET, Mich. The Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame will honor Wayne McBride of Troy and Daniel Sobczynski of Northville, at its 12th annual induction ceremony Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005 on the campus of Olivet College.

McBride has been an advocate of the independent insurance agency system as chairman of Mason-McBride, Inc. He served as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Michigan and was instrumental in merging the association with the Professional Insurance Agents of Michigan. McBride was awarded the W.O. Hildebrand Award, the highest honor of the association. He supports collegiate insurance education for students at Ferris State University. He has also been involved with the Brighton Hospital Board of Trustees, Cleary College Executive Advisory Committee and Detroit Athletic Club.

Sobczynski retired as director of corporate insurance for Ford Motor Company. He coordinated risk identification and analysis, global insurance purchases, risk retention and risk transfer. During his 24-year tenure, he created a unique liability insurance program for Ford. Sobczynski has been an insurance education instructor at Boston University, Lawrence Technological University, Olivet College, and as a guest lecturer at the Southwestern Missouri State University, Temple University, University of Georgia, University of Michigan and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He serves as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and to other firms as an independent risk management and insurance consultant.

The Michigan Insurance Hall of Fame was established at Olivet College in 1994 as a way to pay tribute to individuals who have made a significant impact on the ability of the Michigan insurance and risk management industry to serve the public. An election panel, representing a cross-section of the insurance and risk management business, identifies leaders and/or innovators who have made significant contributions in five areas: education, exemplary service, legislative activity, product/service development and recruiting new participants.

If you are interested in nominating someone into the Michigan Insurance Hall of

Fame or need additional information, please contact Michael R. Hubbel, director of the Olivet College insurance and risk management program, at (269) 749-7626.
