Olivet College to feature guest speaker Kyle Maynard Oct. 5

OLIVET, Mich. Kyle Maynard will present Success Without Excuses as part of Olivet Colleges Lecture and Symposium Series Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 1:30 p.m. in the colleges Upton Center. The event is free and open to the public. Maynard was born March 24, 1986 with a rare disorder called congenital amputation. This left him with only three major joints: a neck and two shoulders. But this hasnt stopped him from becoming a gifted student, competitive wrestler and weightlifter. In his presentation, Maynard outlines how his No Excuses philosophy has helped him meet lifes challenges and succeed. Maynard is the 2004 ESPY Award Winner for Best Athlete with a Disability and was included in ESPN The Magazines annual Top 100 Sport Stories of the Year in 2004. Maynard is scheduled to appear on ABCs 20/20 Friday, Sept. 23 and The Oprah Winfrey Show Monday, Oct. 3. He has been featured on CNNs Larry King Live and HBO.
