Olivet College announces spring music schedule

OLIVET, Mich. The Olivet College music program announces its spring 2006 schedule. All of the events are free and open to the public.
Faculty Recital Sunday, Jan. 22, 3 p.m., Upton Conservatory of Music Recital Hall This is a collage recital featuring Olivet College Music Program faculty: Joyce Besch, bassoon; Timothy Flynn, piano; Jon Gewirtz, saxophone; Courtney Gilson-Piercey, soprano; Ramona Kime Graessle, piano; Michael Haisten, trombone; Jeananne Nichols, flute; and Craig Suhusky, clarinet.
2006 Intercollegiate Honor Band – Saturday, Feb. 4, 8 p.m., Goodrich Chapel, Albion College Nine Olivet College instrumental music students have been selected to participate in the Intercollegiate Honor Band.
Choral Concert: From Bach to Broadway – Sunday, Feb. 26, 3 p.m., Olivet Congregational Church (please note change of date) Under the direction of Timothy Flynn, the Olivet College Womens Chorale and College Choir will perform popular choral favorites.
Olivet Wind Ensemble: USA Triptik – Tuesday, Feb. 28, 7:30 p.m., Olivet Community Schools Auditorium Under the direction of Jeananne Nichols, the ensemble will perform music by Goldman, Schumann, Techelli and others.
Student Recital – Tuesday, March 28, 7:30 p.m., Upton Conservatory of Music Recital Hall Olivet College instrumental and vocal students will perform a wide variety of music.
Jazz Ensemble Concert – Monday, April 3, 7:30 p.m., Upton Conservatory of Music Recital Hall Under the direction of Jon Gewirtz, the ensemble will perform a variety of jazz favorites, featuring student soloists.
Choral Concert: A Spring Fling – Sunday, April 9, 3 p.m., Olivet Congregational Church Under the direction of Timothy Flynn with Ramona Kime Graessle, accompanying on piano, the Olivet College Womens Chorale, College Choir and special guests will perform music to celebrate the spring season.
Wind Ensemble: Your Passport, Please – Tuesday, April 11, 7:30 p.m., Olivet Community Schools Auditorium Under the direction of Jeananne Nichols, the ensemble will perform music by Arnold, Chance, Ito and Shostokovich.
Senior Recital Saturday, April 29, 3 p.m., Oaks Theatre Marie Gouba, a senior from Novi, will present a recital combining her studies in music and theatre.
