Olivet College Women’s Resource Center hosting Roe v. Wade discussion

OLIVET, Mich. The Olivet College Betsy Dole Womens Resource Center is hosting a lecture on Roe v. Wade presented by the Rev. Damita Penny Willis Wednesday, Feb.15 at 1 p.m. in Dole Halls Klock Commons. The event is free and open to the public. Willis presentation, Whats Wrong with this Picture: Roe, Rights and Responsibility, will consider the past and present struggles for womens reproductive freedom using the 1973 Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision, which legalized abortion. She is a certified sexuality educator for Planned Parenthood-Chicago Area. Willis has designed and conducted various workshops and is co-author of Planned Parenthood-Chicago Areas Faith and Healthy Sexuality, a curriculum designed to assist parents in discussing sexuality with their children from a faith-based perspective. Willis also serves as an associate pastor for Metropolitan Apostolic Community Church in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago. Rev. Willis is a member of the Chicago Metropolitan Association of the Illinois Conference of the United Church of Christ. She serves as vice chair of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice and as the chair of the Rev. Dr. Sharon L. Ellis Family Life and Educational Institute.
