Olivet College to hold auditions for “Uncle Vanya”
Apr 06, 2006

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College theatre program will be holding auditions for the play Uncle Vanya, April 11 and 12 at 6 p.m. in the Margaret Upton Conservatory of Music Recital Hall. Auditions will include scene readings and a short prepared monologue.

Uncle Vanya is a play about a retired professor and his beautiful young wife who return to a country estate to find themselves overwhelmed by the stagnant inevitability of the rituals of their life.

Uncle Vanya will be performed early in the fall semester, on dates to be determined, at the Oaks Theatre in downtown Olivet. Scripts will be distributed at the end of the spring semester. Periodic meetings will be held throughout the summer to facilitate the short rehearsal schedule in the fall. The play will be directed by Andrew Hipkiss, a teacher certification student from Mulliken.

For more information, or to obtain a script, contact Arthur Williams, Ph.D., director of theatre, at (269) 749-7246.
