Two named to Olivet College Board of Trustees

OLIVET, Mich. Alexander (Sandy) P. Aranyos and Barbara A. Hill were recently elected to the Olivet College Board of Trustees, according to an announcement by board chair David Hayhow. Each will serve a four-year term.

Aranyos is a 1968 graduate of Olivet College and a resident of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Amersham, Bucks, England. He is a director of Eurogate Freight Group in London, which provides supply chain services to the mature markets of the developed world as well as the new economies of Europe. He is also the president of the real estate development company, Tana Corp., in Jupiter, Fla., and works as a consultant in the trailer rental business. Prior to his current positions, Aranyos worked as the executive chairman for various trailer rental companies, including Tiphook PLC and Rentco International Limited, both in London. He also served as vice president of Leasing for Fruehauf Corporation in Detroit and was employed at The Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A., where he worked in New York City, Seoul, Korea, and Jakarta, Indonesia.

Hill resides in Southfield and is president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Michigan Womens Foundation (MWF); a position she has held since November 2003. Prior to joining the staff, Hill served on the MWF board of trustees, executive and grant allocation committees and as chair of the nominating committee. She is an active community leader and advocate for womens issues in Michigan and has more than 25 years experience in local and national non-profit management and womens philanthropy. Hill is also recognized in the field of organizational development and has served as a consultant to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, the Detroit Empowerment Zone Development Corporation and YWCA of the United States among others. From 1993 to 1997, she was CEO for the Girl Scouts in Northern Michigan. A native of Pittsburgh, Hill holds a bachelor of science degree from Kentucky State University and a masters in social work from Washington University in St. Louis.

The Olivet College Board of Trustees pursues policies and programs in accord with the colleges academic vision of Education for Individual and Social Responsibility. The 33-member board strives to provide the best possible environment for students, faculty and staff to teach, learn and develop their abilities.
