Olivet College to celebrate Homecoming Oct. 7

OLIVET, Mich.Olivet College will Paint the Town Red when it celebrates its 2006 Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 7. From noon to 2 p.m., during the Red and White luncheon, the college will honor Grand Marshal Laura Berghorst Verplank 38; the 2006 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients, William Feddeler 62 and Tala Welch 77; as well as Young Alumni Award honoree Jason Conkin 97. The lunch is $15 per person. The Homecoming Parade begins at 4 p.m. Grand Marshal Verplank, a former Olivet alumni relations director, will lead the parade from Olivet High School to the colleges Cutler Athletic Complex. From 5 to 7 p.m., there will be a tailgate-style picnic and childrens activities at the complex. The cost of the picnic is $6 for adults, $4.50 for children 9- to 12-years-old, and free for children 8 and under. At 6 p.m., the Comet football team takes on Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Adrian College at the Cutler Athletic Complex. The game will be followed by fireworks.
