Oct 12, 2006

OLIVET, Mich. The Olivet College Echo, a student-run campus newspaper, earned three awards in the Michigan Press Association College Newspaper Contest.

The Echo won third place for its news page design, while senior Elizabeth Koebel, photographer, also earned third place honors for a sports photo. Junior Eleni Mitropoulos, editor, received an honorable mention award for her feature story on Patrick Fields, an adjunct faculty member, who is also a chocolate expert.

The papers awards were earned in the category for newspapers published less than weekly and will be recognized at the 2007 Michigan Press Association Winter Convention in February in Grand Rapids.

The contest was open to student newspaper members of Michigan Press Association (MPA), and was co-sponsored by the Michigan Collegiate Press Association, an association composed of advisers to the MPA student newspaper members.
