Olivet College to host town hall event on the future of the United Nations
Oct 16, 2006

OLIVET, Mich. William K. Davis, director of the United Nations Information Center, will speak at Olivet College Friday, Oct. 27 at noon in the Oaks Dining Room. The town hall-style event, sponsored by Americans for Informed Democracy, will examine the future of the United Nations and how it will continue to pursue reform as it addresses issues in Lebanon and the Darfur region of western Sudan. This event is free and open to the public.

Davis, who was appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan, has worked in every administration since President Reagan. He has worked in the United States Department of State, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the United States Treasury and Defense departments, and at the White House.

The town hall meeting is part of a series titled, The People Speak, which includes discussions on issues such as peace, security and human rights; energy and global climate change; and the Millennium development goals.
